Capitalism

An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. Capitalism has been the dominant global system for centuries, credited with driving innovation, lifting billions out of poverty, and increasing global connectivity. At the same time, it is the primary subject of intense modern debate regarding environmental destruction, wealth inequality, and the commodification of human experience.
